Event: 3pm-8pm

Privileged to be one of the longest-running annual festivals in Lake County, CA, Christmas in Middletown has been celebrated since 1988. The festivities kicked off as a craft faire and have progressively grown over the years, adding caroling, a tree lighting, hay rides, and other family fun.

The Middletown Area Merchants Association (MAMA) consists of a devoted group of volunteers who are dedicated to crafting a memorable holiday experience for the local community.

In addition to the festive attractions, Christmas in Middletown also focuses on giving back to the community through charitable initiatives and collaboration with local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and other local volunteers. This spirit of generosity and camaraderie is what truly sets this festival apart, embodying the essence of the holiday season.

The Middletown Christmas Tree was originally a 25'-30' tall pine tree located at the corner of Wardlaw Street and Calistoga Road, across the street from Middletown High School. When this area was paved in the late 1990's, the tree was removed, and MAMA chose to honor a pine tree located at the High School as the designated Christmas Tree.

Finding the tree difficult to decorate, in recent years MAMA chose to use a freshly cut live tree, put up in the gazebo at Middletown Square Park. Although the tree was beautiful, it did not come without its challenges. To ensure the tree would not blow over in extreme weather, the volunteer group had to tie it to the gazebo post.

Our Christmas Tree

A huge thank you to Hardester's Market and Hardware for their donation of Christmas Lights in 2024 to not only light up our Gazebo and fencing at the Community Park, but also offering to donate to all the other businesses in Middletown! And another huge thank you to Twin Pine Casino for donating the use of their lights to light up the side walks and keep our community safe. Their generosity is truly what makes the Middletown Area special.

A shout out to the South Lake Kindness Committee for their donation in 2024 of the sleigh and reindeer to adorn the top of the gazebo.

In 2024, Middletown Square Park added lovely benches under the gazebo for the community to enjoy. MAMA always wanted to have a dedicated Christmas tree again, and on April 19th, 2024, MAMA, Middletown Mail & More, Ybarra Events, Star Gardens, and the South Lake Kindness Committee helped with planting a new baby Christmas Tree in front of the Middletown Community building to grow up with the town.

Volunteers along with the Middletown Area Merchants Association (MAMA) and various other members of the community dedicate their efforts throughout the year to prepare for the town's most significant annual celebration, Christmas in Middletown! A special thank you to Star Gardens, Tyrrell Martial Arts, Middletown Mail & More, South Lake Kindness Committee, and Ybarra Events for volunteering their time to decorate Middletown Square Park for the Holidays.

This beloved festival features a delightful array of things to do for all ages, from festive activities to local artisan markets. Families can enjoy horseback rides, visits with Santa Claus, and enjoy a variety of delicious treats. The event's vibrant displays and cheerful atmosphere make it a cherished tradition for residents and visitors alike.
